David Gibbs is a founding member of Melbourne Community Foundation.

He came to the Board as a highly skilled business strategist and adviser, with a reputation for developing wise and practical solutions to business problems.

Ten years on MCF has grown considerably under the influence of David's expertise and passion. Retiring from the Board at the end of 2006 in accordance with the Board's rotation policy, David's enthusiasm for the work of MCF will continue as he has been appointed an Ambassador.

This will allow him to continue to play a vital role in promoting MCF, especially to the business community.

Melbourne Community Foundation is a remarkable success story, with a strong board of directors and strong asset growth to support well researched and donor driven philanthropy," he says.

"It's an excellent funds manager but the really relevant or differentiating expertise I have found is in helping with the giving of the funds to meet the donor's wishes. This is the hardest part of being a philanthropist - knowing the right projects to support.

It's an honour to be able to continue promoting the work of the foundation by becoming an MCF Ambassador.
David says community foundations are an excellent way of establishing a named fund without taking on the legal obligations and costs associated with trustees.

David Gibbs is currently a director with Mutual Trust - a family oriented financial advice business incorporating chartered accountants McInnes, Graham and Gibbs.

A committed supporter and office bearer of numerous community-based and youth organisations, he has also served as the Victorian State Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

His other numerous positions include being Councilor of the Mittagundi Outdoor Education Centre, Chair of the City of Glen Eira's Audit Committee, and member of Freemasons Victoria's Audit Committee.

In addition he's a member of the Chartered Accountants Advisory Group (Victoria), a director of Resolute Financial Advisory Services Pty Ltd, and serves on the Board of Abbottsford Convent Limited.

As an MCF Ambassador David Gibbs joins Michael Andrew, Connie Benn AM, Clare Cannon, Rev. Tim Costello, Carol des Cognets, David CL Gibbs AM, Janine Kirk AM, Ellen Koshland, Louise Myer, Elizabeth Proust, Hayden Raysmith, David Scott AO and Fiona Smith. The role of an Ambassador is to contribute to the credibility of Melbourne Community Foundation and to help spread the word about its relevance and work..
